INFORMATION on changes in Gold Plating as rapidly as they develop. This information can
give you the knowledge you need to make a decision.
We have a very SIMPLE INFORMATIONAL WEB SITE which
American Gold / SMC maintains.
Because we do all of the WEB SITE work in-house, we can continue to keep
our costs low, which keeps our prices low too.
We can frequently up-date the WEB SITE with
INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW.
We suggest you BOOKMARK the site and check it
often. There are always new items that come up.
You will not find statements in our WEB SITE that
says we are the BEST source. Everyone with a WEB SITE, and people without WEB SITES, claim
they are the best. It is impossible for you to know who is the best based on
statements in advertisements. Advertising claims
are hard to disprove.
We believe it is easy enough to show that we offer
you a good value with the equipment and supplies we offer.
If providing you INFORMATION gives an additional
VALUE, then we are at least starting off on the right track.
We strongly encourage you to cross check any
information we refer to in this WEB SITE, and every other web site and advertisement. You
can cross check almost everything in your local area.
We do not provide you with TESTIMONIALS because I
never read a testimonial from a person I knew. Obviously, neither you or I would
likely know a person making a Testimonial on a Web Site. That makes the value of
any testimonial statement sort of worthless.
As a side question, did you ever read a
testimonial that was not positive about the company that the testimonial is
about?

believe in the ability of a person, in the right place, and in the right market, to make

We processed the entire WEB SITE in what you might
call a CONVERSATIONAL STYLE. That means, it is written just as if we were discussing the
item with you on the phone.
As you read many of our pages, you may see a level
of repetition in the comments. We did this because we have no way of knowing if you read
every page in the WEB SITE, or just one page.
We added two 10 amp Gold Plating Systems
recently, and then dropped one because of a lack of customer response. The other
one is about to be dropped because of a lack of orders. The 10 amp systems were primarily
designed for smaller operations, and the initial customer was Jewelry shops. They are not practical for the typical person
looking to go into Gold Plating.
PRICES. We invite you to check the prices of the
components of our Gold Plating systems. Several of the items we purchase are available on
the LOCAL MARKET all over the US.

As an example, we use a Waterloo Tool Box to hold
the 30 AMP, 25 and 35 amp Gold Plating Systems. They were listed in a tool company
catalog for $65. We charge $50.00.

As another example, we use a simple and
highly functional Power Supply to
convert 110 Volts AC to 12 Volts to 13.8 Volts DC. While this item is not on the OPEN MARKET, you can
check on the cost of a PYRAMID PS36KX at a local audio store. We charge $185. We know that

Speaking of AUDIO STORES, the PS26KX
(25AMP) and the
PS36KX (35 AMP) power supplies from PYRAMID, are designed to run
CONTINUOUSLY, all day long, during business hours, to power assorted displays of AUDIO
EQUIPMENT in STEREO STORES who offer 12 Volt Audio/Stereo systems.
The 30 AMP Power Supply came from a different industry
and works ideally in a mobile operation because of the high AMPS and the low
4.5 pound weight.
The 30 AMP POWER SUPPLY is in our
most popular Gold Plating System today.
The 25 and 35 amp power supplies are designed
for heavy duty use and they weight in heavier than the 30 AMP system making
them better suited to operations where portability is not the first issue.
When they are in operation, they only work for a few minutes doing a Gold Plating job. They are
extremely well built for the task involved.
Dealing with "off the
shelf" supply items is a VERY AFFORDABLE way to run a business. As an example, the
PS36KX, we sell for only $185. It is the right price! We can not get $2,495 for our 35 Amp
Gold Plating system with the PYRAMID POWER SUPPLY, but $995 is a fair price.
systems we offer
include AUTOMATIC adjustment of the AMPS, along with thermal overload protection and
current overload protection, built in each of the power supplies. So, each of the power
supplies adjusts AMPS automatically, as required, in each separate step of the Gold
Plating process. This prevents problems.
We start you off with a complete system,
including all equipment & supplies. This way you will know exactly what to have, and
have exactly what you need to start doing Gold Plating when the system arrives. We always
suggest that you can, and should, find replacement supplies in stores near you. If
we have to buy the replacement supply items for you and ship the items to you, we would
have to charge you more money, plus charge you for shipping. We can do that but it does
not make sense to us to make you pay more to buy from us when you can get it locally

You can find your own TRIGGER SPRAY bottle at a
Hardware Store for a few dollars.

You can find electrical tape, tooth brushes, Turtle
Wax, and so on, in stores in your local area too, all as you need them.
With each system, we provide a list of replacement
items you can find in your local stores.
So how to we make money?

We buy assorted components "off the shelf"
as we need them so we have a limited inventory expense.

We manufacture some of our equipment components.

We mix our own chemicals.

We own our own 1600 square foot Industrial facility
in Reading, Michigan, just a half a mile from our house.
Combine these points and you can see that we
function with an extremely low overhead.
Occasionally I used an old 10 speed "Schwinn
World Sport" to do the one half mile commute between the House and the Industrial
facility. It saves a little on gas expense, and is an excellent source of exercise too.
Riding a bike in the rain means you might get wet but we have several other sources of DRY type transportation
too.
With low costs, we can sell the Gold Plating
Equipment & Supplies at affordable prices and still make money!
We started a RENOVATION project on our 1,600 square foot
Commercial / Industrial building in Reading. I got to talk with several customers about
it. They wanted to know how we were progressing on the work.
We purchased the building in 1989 and did a QUICKIE PAINT
JOB on the place. Then, more than 10 years later, we got back to it. We took a 1,500 psi, 3 Gallon Per Minute GAS POWERED pressure washer to the place. The pressure washer has
a 5 hp Kawasaki engine and a rugged CAT pump. Clearly, I ran it more than I ever did
before. We ran through three tanks of gas. It was a wild day. As you look at the following
image, you can see one of the two doors but you can not see the classy sign on the door. I
have a movers pad covering the top part of the glass door.
You may have picked up on the red letters just
above the top of the small Step Van. It looks like it says MET.
Actually, it is the start of the words MEAT MARKET.
The next image shows that better.
The last image shows the other door.
Although it is hard to make out, the piece in
the middle of the glass door says "217" and served as the main entrance to the
warehouse since 1989.
As you can see from the images, we took off a lot
of loose paint. We did the entire building in ONE DAY. One LONG DAY at that. The work we
did, with all of that pressure, managed to make more of the paint ready to come off in the
SECOND DAY of PRESSURE WASHING.
Then, we did a second washing of the front of
the building and even more old paint came off.
We did the last washing within a week of the
second washing.
We have another up-date on the progress of
remodeling. We got the first coats of PRIMER PAINT on the building. It looks
different now. While it looks better than it did above, you can not tell
everything by what you see. We had so much of the paint come
off on the front because of age and the high pressure washer, we decided to do a complete
coverage with the primer paint. That even includes the ridge board on the top.
We finally got the exterior with one coat of finish
paint. We will
need to paint the ridge boards.
Throughout it all, we have maintained a prompt shipping
schedule and will not let anything hold back a shipment ready to go.

As a side note to this, we realize that many firms
offering items for sale on the Internet will show you a picture of a building
with the implication that they fill the entire building. Others simply imply
they are in a business location while, in fact, they operate out of a "Mail
Boxes ETC" location. I know this because I have visited assorted competitors.
The explosion of the Internet and the electronic way of shopping has made it a
greater challenge for buyers. It is hard for people to know what to do. While we
welcome visitors, it is impractical for buyers to drive all over the US to do
shopping for Gold Plating Equipment. We realize that this is a concern on the
part of buyers.
Perhaps our showing you our building, and our
remodeling is a plus. If not, at least you have had a chance to see our place.
For what it is worth, the two Ford Aerostar vans in the image above are long
gone to the scrap yard. The two aluminum trucks (one is an 18 foot long cargo
area and the other one only has a 6 foot long cargo area) are still running and
working. Actually, we added a third one recently, it is a smaller type aluminum
van on a one ton Ford Chassis. It is a good thing we have additional parking on
the side and in the rear.
