WHAT ABOUT HAND BUFFING? It is possible. BUFFING by hand is important on certain Automotive applications where you can not remove the piece for buffing. Or, if you are working on a piece of stainless steel that you are about to Gold Plate.
If you have a job to gold plate stainless steel, it is very important to polish the stainless steel with a stainless steel polish. This will remove the top layer as well as work to prep the surface. DO NOT USE BRASSO or ANY OTHER HIGH ABRASIVE polish. You will be able to find a stainless steel polish in an auto parts store. After you polish the surface by hand, take the time to thoroughly rinse and clean the surface. There are many water soluble citrus based cleaners on the market. The plus of the water soluble citrus based cleaner is the ease of rinsing it off with distilled water. A polished and good clean surface is important for a top quality gold plating job.
