WHAT GOLD PLATING MACHINE IS THE BEST FOR ME?

This question seems simple enough to answer.

  • Any Gold Plating Machine, from any source, will do the Gold Plating job on Cars, Trucks, Vans, and other items.

  • Any Gold Plating Machine can do any Gold Plating job, or jobs any or all vendors claim their machine can do.

  • I simply do not know of any machine that does not do the same basic gold plating work.

  • The hobby type small tank systems are generally not suited to doing the profitable automotive work.

Some suppliers claim they are the best. Naturally, they want to say they are the best. And, to the extent they can convince a potential buyer their machine is the best, the potential buyer may buy the machine from them.

That seems self serving enough to me.

However, NO EVIDENCE, with what I call an INDEPENDENT OUTSIDE CONFIRMATION from sources such as UL Laboratories or Consumer Reports exists to support the claim, and or claims. And, there are many claims.

I always find it curious when I learn the companies offering the HIGHER PRICED systems seem to offer all sorts of possible claims about their product. Claims individuals as potential buyers have no realistic way of confirming.

Look at it like this. Although no one has made this CLAIM, if one Gold Plating equipment supplier claims their machine can gold plate the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, other Gold Plating equipment, from other manufacturers, would be able to do the same. The machines are all basically the same.

There are so many so called "claims" about mobile / brush type Gold Plating machines and systems, that there is no way I can list all of them and to give conflicting evidence on the claim, and even if I could list half of what so called claims are out today, the new claims would come out as fast as I could list the old ones. So, the process is never ending. Since it is never ending, it is senseless to start to attempt to resolve it point by point.

  • I really can not think of any Gold Plating machine from any supplier that is really worthless and does not do a Gold Plating job.

  • Nor can I think of any Gold Plating machine that is really any better than any other machine from any other vendor.

  • I can find an assortment of machines available at an assortment of prices.

I can think of machines that offer an assortment of different components, some of these components look good too, although the components are not always what I see as a benefit. However, most of the so-called "extra items" add to the selling price, and add to the vendor profit, of the Gold Plating system.

There are machines some suppliers call the "economy version" or words to that type of description. These types of machines are, generally, of a limited power (low amps) at a low price. With an attractive low price, a supplier may get your attention. Then the supplier wants, and suggests, you to TRADE UP to the unit with MORE AMPS, at a higher price.

The gold plating units with higher amps probably does assorted components of the whole 3 step Gold Plating process faster.

High amps is not important in the Gold Plating Step. However, higher amps is a real plus in getting all of the chrome off of the piece you are working on.

However, I am thoroughly confident that the so called "economy versions" with LOW AMPS (meaning at least 25 amps) will do the entire 3 step Gold Plating process.

I prefer ample amps. We had a 25 amp Mobile / Brush system and upgraded to a 35 amp Mobile / Brush type system. The 35 amp system operates better, with fewer problems. So, it makes sense to us to go with what works. And we price it affordably too.

This brings me to the real question. What gold plating work are you expecting to do? Once we know that, we can match you up with what is right to do the job you expect to do.

Do you NEED 30 amps? The 30 amp Power Supply is extremely durable, designed as a heavy duty unit, with all of the built in protection systems. It is an "off the shelf" unit.

"Off the shelf" means we can order the power supplies "one at a time" or "ten at a time." We buy what we need to meet the needs of our customers without the cost of designing and purchasing fancy boxes in substantial quantities and components with a large inventory expense for our company. So, we can provide a top quality "off the shelf" system for less and pass the savings on to you. We still make money, and we save you expense too.

Another point of the 30 amp power supply is to address the issue of reducing problems in gold plating. The largest single cause of problems in brush type mobile gold plating is not removing all of the chrome from the piece before the start of the gold plating step. Perhaps it is because the person doing the work is in a hurry. Anyway, 30 amps of power can help you strip the chrome off reasonably quickly.

All of the units listed above work well at 12 volts DC.

There was a new company out in 2000 touting 30 amps and 30 volts, although professionals in the field are not able to understand why anyone needs 30 volts. We can do a great job of plating with as little as 6 volts, although automotive gold plating, as well as most other gold plating uses 12 volts.

In our TANK PLATING SYSTEM;

  • We use a 125 amp power supply to STRIP THE CHROME.  To strip the chrome from wheels, we set the unit between 80 and 100 amps in minutes.

  • We use a 25 amp power supply to do the actual Gold Plating. To DEPOSIT / BOND the gold, we set it at 20 amps for 5 minutes.

We can strip the chrome on small script/emblems with the 25 amp power supply we use to do the Gold Plating, it just takes longer to strip the chrome with the 25 amp power supply. So, it makes sense to have a higher power when we need it, particularly on WHEELS.

A 10 AMP power supply does not offer enough power to strip chrome in any sort of a reliable manner. Although 10 amps can deposit / bond gold on small items in the very small 16 ounce tanks.

We could gold plate with the 125 amp power supply. We would not need that much power, but it will work! What we have is a system that works with a BACK UP in the event one of our power supplies breaks down.

We hope this cleared up some questions for you.
