Can I do Gold Plating with a BATTERY
CHARGER?
I like this question! It shows people are
thinking about alternatives.
The answer is, technically, YES, you can Gold
Plating with a BATTERY CHARGER.
However, this does not mean that you should
use a battery charger to do gold plating or that any or all of the systems sold for gold
plating are actually battery chargers.
Although a battery charger does take in 110
volt AC power and puts out a regulated 12 volt DC power, it is not practical to do gold
plating with a battery charger. The issues are SAFETY, as well as practicality.
If money was not an concerned you had the
time and expertise to do the work to get the machine ready, I am confident a person could
build a system based on a battery charger that would work to do a decent job of brush type
gold plating.
By the time you finish the job, you will have
a monstrosity of a piece of equipment that will cost you more, and take up more space,
than a 30 AMP Power Supply that was designed to be a constant duty industrial type
power supply.

only $185. This makes it very affordable to replace if your existing POWER SUPPLY is

At the price of only $185 for the
30 AMP Power Supply, it is not worth your time or the extra costs to attempt to rig up a
battery charger. I do not have actual costs to do the conversion of a battery charger.
However, by the time you get the right sizes battery charger and all of the parts, you
will have a lot of money wrapped up.
