Can I Gold Plate AIRPLANE PARTS?

YES and NO. To answer this takes a bit of a description.

Since the idea of dressing up a vehicle is popular, why not do it on AIRPLANES?

The answer is, you CAN Gold Plate airplane parts if you are careful and limit your work to SOME ITEMS.

What are the limits?

Basically stick to interior chrome parts.

In my personal opinion, I would not gold plate ANYTHING in the Pilot's compartment.

The three step process is the same.

1. STRIP THE CHROME.

2. ACTIVATE THE NICKEL.

3. DEPOSIT THE 24 KARAT GOLD.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS INCREASE DRAMATICALLY if you are attempting to do Gold Plating on an airplane. Extreme care is important whenever working within the small confines of any space. As you can expect, SMOKING is not allowed inside Airplane Hangers.

I would expect to do the work outside of the hanger with ample ventilation and ample chemical containment. If you are able to do so, consider removing the assorted knobs and such and gold plating them in your drain pan.
