We offer an assortment of Gold Plating
Solutions, including CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTIONS. And, the CYANIDE and the CYANIDE FREE
Gold Plating chemicals we provide will work with all of the gold plating machines on the
market today.
The reason cyanide is in the gold plating
solution is to harden the deposit of gold onto the surface. Cyanide does this very well.
In addition to cyanide, some gold plating systems use arsenic. We prefer the results we
get from the cyanide based mixture.
Cyanide has a side benefit in that it cleans
the surface as well. So, in the non-cyanide Gold Plating Solutions, you will need to be
sure to have a very clean surface.
The CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTIONS fall into
one of two groups.
- CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTION with ARSENIC.
- CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTION with OTHER
INGREDIENTS.
First, the CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTION with
ARSENIC.
- WE HAVE THIS. Arsenic is a Hazardous Material.
And, at specified levels of concentration, Arsenic is a Hazardous Material with a CLASS of
6.1. In this, the lower the number, the more the hazard. The unique properties of the
CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTION with ARSENIC is the level of arsenic in the gold plating
solution, as reflected by a statement of how many "parts per quantity" there are
of arsenic in the solution. Below a certain percentage of "parts per quantity"
in the solution, it can be in there without telling you about it.
Next, CYANIDE FREE PLATING SOLUTION with
OTHER INGREDIENTS.

From the information we have, the so called
CYANIDE FREE GOLD has smaller grains in the solution that you would typically find in the
CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating Solutions.
Will CYANIDE FREE GOLD give a higher
reflection and last longer than typical CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating Solutions? NO.
Actually, the deposits of CYANIDE FREE GOLD
are even softer than deposits of CYANIDE BASED Gold.
Either one will look good initially. A
typical CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating Solution will give a longer lasting deposit on the
surface.
What about uneven plating because of ridges
and valleys?
Lets address measurements of ridges and
valleys. Under magnification, a glass surface is not smooth! However, as you look at it,
it sure seems smooth. It feels smooth to your touch, and so on.
The exposed nickel surface should be
reasonably smooth to start with. And, because the script is so small, you would not be
able to see an uneven surface anyway. However, it sure sounds like a good story. And,
without a cross section of the pieces before and after plating with CYANIDE FREE and
CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating Solutions, taken by an independent outside testing laboratory
nationally recognized by the scientific community, you will not really know.
However, if anyone does do this test with an
independent outside testing laboratory, nationally recognized by the scientific community,
please have the independent outside testing laboratory do a salt spray test on the piece,
and please have them run a knoop hardness test of both CYANIDE FREE and CYANIDE BASED Gold
Plating Solutions. I would like to see the results. The results from the independent
outside testing laboratory, nationally recognized by the scientific community, could help
everyone clarify information I already know if correct.
The only test results I see are claims by the
companies offering the assorted products.
Sales claims do not always prove to be
correct.
As far as the controversy over CYANIDE FREE
GOLD and CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating Solutions, claims, and counter claims, exist, about
the assorted gold plating compounds. We prefer to let you decide. We have whatever you
want and need.
After personal use, we still continue to
prefer, and continue recommend, the CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating Solutions until we get
results of testing to show us different from an independent outside testing laboratory,
nationally recognized by the scientific community.
