If you are experiencing a blackening or cloudy result, check your electrical system. 11 to 14 volts are enough. 12 Volts is what we recommend. However, the corrosive nature of the chemicals as well as normal wear and tear on the banana plug connections may restrict the flow of electricity.

If you expect your red and black leads are wearing, we suggest you do the following. Unscrew the metal banana plug part from the colored plastic cap part. The cap will slide up the wire. This exposes the wire used. If the wire is frayed or damaged by corrosion, you can FIX IT right on the spot. You need to remove the existing wire from the metal banana plug part and cut off a portion of the lead wire. Then, strip away about an inch of the colored lead wire coating exposing a fresh layer of tinned copper lead wire. Twist the wire so it goes back into the opening on the metal banana plug. After inserting the wire fully into the metal banana plus, UNTWIST the lead wire so the connections can spread out as you wrap the wire clockwise as you have the metal point part of the banana plug facing away from you. Then, simply replace the color-coded plastic cap by screwing it on clockwise.

Corrosion can lead to having less electricity flowing to the tip making you THINK that you need more volts. You do not need more than 12 volts.
