How big is your
company?
This FAQ came up as a result of
a purchase I made from a company on the Internet.
The company is not in Gold
Plating Equipment or Automotive Accessories. Exactly who they are is not important.
The point was they had a good
looking web site and were prompt to answer my e-mail inquiry. They came up with a solution
and I ordered it.
When the box arrived, I noticed
it was sent by INSURED PRIORITY MAIL. The return address was a rubber stamp on the outside
of the box and they literally wrote my name in on the box. The box itself was previously
used as an ULTRA SLIM-FAST COCOA ALMOND CRUNCH YOGURT COATED NUTRITIOUS SNACK BARS box.
This BOX got me thinking.
ULTRA SLIM-FAST is a well known
product but has nothing to do with what I ordered either.
I am sure the exterior box was
suitable packaging, and protected the contents during shipment.
The issue is, "How big is
your company?"
From what I got, I suspect the
company I ordered from is a very small company, probably run by one or two people,
operating out of a small room in their house or apartment, who have a good looking web
site and are able to serve their customers.
Does being a small company
present a problem? Not necessarily! And, the company I ordered from had what I wanted and
needed, when other companies in a similar industry I have visited, did not have what I
wanted and needed. I do not ever expect to rely on them for a WARRANTY.
So, what about AMERICAN GOLD,
how big is American Gold?
American Gold is a subsidiary of
SMC Auto Accessories, Inc..
SMC Auto Accessories, Inc.
became a member of SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) in 1990, and have
participated in many SEMA Shows since then.
Both American Gold and SMC Auto
Accessories, Inc., operate as WHOLESALE BUSINESSES out of the Commercial Building we own,
at 217 East Lincoln, Reading, Michigan.
The reason to stress a WHOLESALE
BUSINESS is simple. We do not have a "showroom" or "retail sales"
area. We have offices and a warehouse.
The Commercial Building is
undergoing extensive renovations during the Spring of 1999. We made alternative
arrangements for office, warehouse, and the shipping of products to our customers. Service
to our customers will continue without disruption during the extensive renovation work.
Once we finish the renovations,
we will post a photo of the facilities on this site.
If you are ever in the Reading
Michigan area, please stop by. We are not conveniently off either a Freeway or Interstate,
but we are close.
We are 15, or so, miles north of
the Western Entrance / Exit of the Ohio Turnpike. Which is right before the Indiana Toll
Road. Actually, the Highway 49 Exit is right in-between the two toll roads. If you have a
Rand McNally Road Atlas, you will find Reading on the map!
