Information on the GOLDEN
OPPORTUNITY
Recently I got to hear about a so-called
GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY where the teller of the story claims that a Gold Plating
enterprise makes $100,000 a year.
The teller of the story claims to know how
to market gold plating and thus they can make so much money, where others can
not.
Additionally, the teller explains that
their first system was inefficient and it was only after they purchased an
expensive unit that they started to make so much money.
First lets address the mathematical
potential. I know that with a little experience you can do the average gold
plating job in about 30 minutes.
Going on the 30 minute time frame and the
desire to make as much money as possible, lets add in a bit of transit time or
relaxation time and add 15 minutes to each job. That makes it a gold plating job
every 45 minutes. Out of every 8 hour day, there are 480 minutes (which is 8
hours times 60 minutes).
If you divide 480 minutes by 45 minutes,
you get 10.6, meaning it is mathematically possible to gold plate 10 vehicles a
day.
If you take the average RETAIL price of
$225 (an average between $200 and $250) you have $225 X 10 or $2,250 a day.
Since there are 5 working days in a week, you would make $11,250 a week and
working just 50 weeks a year, that comes to $562,500. That sure sounds better
than the paltry $100,000 they claim in their story.
OK time for a REALITY CHECK.
I have not seen the
personal and or business taxes for the author of the story. I doubt you have
either. I doubt either of us will. This makes the golden opportunity $100,000
income story sound a bit to good to be true, and, as you
probably guessed, it logically is to good to be true.
However, we have seem what is,
technically,
mathematically possible to do. What is technically possible to do does not mean
that you will be able to do that.
Likewise, we have a customer who gold
plates parts on Banjo's and he is making money. Can you gold plate Banjo's and
make money? The answer is, probably not. Banjo's are relatively uncommon. Our
customer does his gold plating as an added profit center to his existing Banjo's
restoration business.
We have another customer who Gold Plates
fishing lures and he is making money at it. Can you gold plate fishing lures and
make money at it? Here we must address the issue that fishing lures are more
common then Banjo's. After all, you could go and purchase some fishing lures and
get started that way too, right? The difference is the other customer already
had a fishing lure business and the gold plating was just a side line to what he
already sells. So the answer is NO, you probably will not make money gold
plating fishing lures either.
This gets us back to idea of gold plating
10 automobiles a day, 5 days a week.
The question is can you line up that much
work, day after day, week after week, year after year?
- The answer is, I DOUBT IT.
- Actually, I bet you that you can not do
it.
- The reason that you can not do that is the
nature of business things.
However, a person attempting to sell you a high
priced Gold Plating system may want you to believe that if you spend a lot of money with
them, you will make a lot of money. NOT SO.
The fact is that how much you make depends
solely on your ability to promote Gold Plating within your area.
- There is no difference in the gold plating
system that makes the marketing difference.
- With virtually any quality gold plating
system you can gold plate as many vehicles as you can with any other gold
plating system. One gold plating system does not have a real income advantage
over another gold plating system.
As long as you want to work and enjoy making
money, you have a potential to make money with a gold plating system from

As to marketing, it all comes down to people
skills. If you are the type of person who is an outgoing type of person, you
have the potential to make money.

However, if you believe the story that you will earn $100,000
a year figure if you buy an expensive system, be sure to get a bonded statement,
in writing,
from the owner of the company that clearly states that if you do not make
$100,000 a year you get your money back.
Actually, you can probably make that
$50,000 since the odds are that you will not make that either. At least you will
have a document (the bonded statement) that you can fall back on to get your
money back from the overpriced system when you actually realize that you will
not, or did not, make $50,000 a year.
