To learn about different gold plating solutions, you need to understand some of the basics.

What is important to know is that, for all practical purposes, 24K gold is 24K gold, is 24K gold, and so on. The difference is the actual amount of gold that is in the gold plating solution.

We have three grades. 1A Good - 2A Better - 3A BEST

The 3A grade has more of the exact same gold salts in it than the 2A Gold has and therefore it will gold plate faster and go further.

As a result, if you were to put our 3A Grade in a comparison test with our 2A Grade, you would eventually see the same high quality results because there is the same 24K gold in each mixture. Although it will take longer to get the same quantity of gold out of the 2A mixture because there is more real gold in the 3A mixture.

The difference comes up in how quickly the gold came come out of the solution, as well as how much, or how many, scripts and emblems you can gold plate with the same amount of liquid.

The 3A grade has more gold in it and therefore it will gold plate faster and go further.

As an example. take paint.

In this example, we will use gallons of the same color of white paint and the same brand of thinner.

  • Take a gallon of thinner and a gallon of white paint and pour them into a 5 gallon pail. If you were to mix that up and paint with it, it would take quite some time to get a proper color of paint on the surface since there is so much thinner in the mix. It is reasonable to expect that once you finally got the first one gallon to one gallon mixture painted on the surface of a board, the board will eventually be a white color.
  • Next, take a mixture of one gallon of thinner and two gallons of white paint. After mixing that up and painting with it, you would realize that the white paint would come out quicker and go further. That is due to the fact that you had more paint in the mix.
  • Next, take a mixture of one gallon of thinner and three gallons of white paint. After mixing that up, the white paint would go on quicker and go a lot further, all because you had more of the exact same white paint in the mixture you are working with.

This simple example puts the same white paint in the test against the same white paint. The only difference is the amount of white paint, and that is where the real difference is.

This is an example that shows you the idea of why the amount of paint in the mixture makes a lot of difference, even though it is the exact same paint.

That example shows why the amount of gold in the mixture makes a lot of difference, even though it is the exact same gold.

So what about the gold in our mixture, and how can you tell how much gold is in the mixture.

The simple answer is that you can not tell. The gold "salts" mix in with the base mixture of chemicals and are completely absorbed into the base solution.

The base mixture is a purple solution. In our lab, we have bottles that hold the mixed base mixture marked "NO GOLD" because there is no way to tell from the color of the base solution if there is gold in the solution or not. We can not tell by looking at the base solution either.

We know what we put in the different grades because we do the actual mixing. When we package the different grades of gold plating solution we package one grade at a time and we label the packages we ship to customers as we go.

Our 3A BEST Grade is our most popular because it has a lot of gold in it, it plates quickly and goes a long way.
