WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY DO YOU OFFER
WITH YOUR GOLD?
This brings up an assortment of
answers. The REAL ANSWER is simple.
None of the chemists,
manufacturers, distributors, or any of their sales people and or agents are going to do
the actual job of gold plating.
It is reasonable to say all of
the chemists, manufacturers and or distributors of the CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating
solutions and the CYANIDE FREE Gold Plating solutions, do put GOLD into the solution. The
issue of how much or how little is a matter of another FAQ. The point is there is GOLD in
the solution. So, the vendor did their part.
It is reasonable to expect all
of the chemists, manufacturers and or distributors of the CYANIDE BASED Gold Plating
solutions and the CYANIDE FREE Gold Plating solutions, do put 24 Karat GOLD into the
solution.
What we have here, is, sort of,
a point where I am attempting to put aside small issues and say everyone puts gold into
the solution and each of the gold plating solutions will gold plate. How fast, and or how
thick is not an issue.
The ONLY ISSUE is to understand
EXACTLY WHO the responsibility of the WARRANTY will fall to.
Since you, or your employees,
will be the person(s) doing the actual Gold Plating job, YOU ARE the person(s) responsible
for doing the job properly.
If YOU offer a warranty, the
CONSUMER will be coming back to you for remedies of the warranty you offered.
Not the company who provided
you with the chemicals, even if they are still in business.
And, if you want to get into a
real legal mess, write your own warranty.
The position of any supplier
is simple enough to understand. Since the supplier did not do the actual gold plating, the
supplier is not involved in any further liability.
Since you do not control the
environmental conditions in which the vehicle is operated, you can not be held
responsible, in any way, whatsoever, for any failure of the Gold Plating, and or
durability of any Gold Plating.
We provide a CUSTOMER CARE SHEET
but it does not offer any warranty period.
The following is a portion of
the FAQ on why you should not Gold Plate bathroom fixtures. It goes to explain the idea of
harsh environments and so on. This is similar to the reasons why you should not offer a
Gold Plating Warranty of any knind, whatsoever.
In the August 1997 issue of
Popular Science, on page 47, Popular Science had a highlighted section on PLUMBING.
"BRASS BATHROOM FIXTURES
look elegant - until years of use turn them from dashing to dull. Now, to give polished
brass the durability of chrome, faucet manufacturers have developed protective,
corrosion-resistant coatings."
The Popular Science article goes
on to talk about Delta Faucet's Brilliance and Moen's Lifeshine coated-products are
available now. They add that Kohler plans to introduce a similar finish soon.
The scope and nature of the
article points out the importance of providing a PROTECTIVE FINISH that will RESIST the
rigors of cleaning the fixtures take.
The Popular Science article
continues by explaining,
"We subjected both
companies' products to a set of tests - and they both lived up to promises. Using an
abrasive powder,a clog-removing liquid, a lime removing liquid, and a steel wool pad, we
were unable to damage the surface of either faucet during simulated cleaning. That doesn't
mean the faucets are damage-proof, of course: We did manage to scratch with with the tip
of a ball point pen."
The point of bringing this up to
you is simple. Even the manufacturers of the plumbing fixtures are working to improve the
durability of the FACTORY FINISHES on their products. Clearly, no gold plating job I know
of would stand up to the types of abuse the Popular Science testing team did on the
special treatment of the faucets.
In light of seeing this
information (you can probably go to the local Library and get a copy of the August 1997
issue of Popular Science, the article was on page 47) do you really want to gold plate
plumbing fixtures?
So, it makes sense NOT TO GOLD
PLATE BATHROOM FIXTURES.
And it makes sense NOT TO OFFER
A WARRANTY ON GOLD PLATING.
