WHO DO YOU SELL GOLD
PLATING TO?
There are all sorts of lists of places to sell to.
For all practical purposes, the people you are most
likely to sell Gold Plating to are CONSUMERS. That is, people who own Cars, Trucks and
VANS.
There is talk of doing Plumbing Fixtures sold
through Plumbers, Plumbing Supply Houses, Home Builders, Hardware Stores, Architects, Real
Estate Sales People and so on. This is an example of a "niche market."
I got to read an article that said Oprah Winfrey
paid $25,000 for a gold plated toilet. This may be true. I have to figure the gold plating
work was done in a LARGE TANK system. Clearly the market for $25,000 gold plated toilets
is limited,
I got to see the Edsel Ford House in a northern
suburb of Detroit. They had gold on the sink faucets in the Ford's bathroom. I do not
recall if the person giving the tour said the faucet handles were solid gold (Ford could
have afforded that) or if they were gold plated. Either way, it was a nice house.
From a practical standpoint, there is extremely

I am confident that all of the portable / mobile
types of Gold Plating Systems from all of the assorted suppliers can do an equal job of
gold plating assorted bathroom fixtures.
Being able to do the work does not mean anyone will
actually pay you money to have the work done. That makes a big difference.
I expect you can begin to see the major difference
between a possibility to do gold plating and a practical application where you can make
money.
The ability to do a specific job does not mean it is
practical, or that there is any money to be made in doing it.
There is no doubt that a person offering a Gold
Plating Service will pick up an assortment of oddities to Gold Plate. One person I know
asked me if I could Gold Plate a mechanics socket for him. I said I could do that. I did
not ask what he intended to do with the Gold Plated 1/2 inch drive socket. I expect it was
for some sort of award. If you are offering a Gold Plating Service, you are going to pick
up odd jobs. However, Gold Plating a 1/2 inch drive socket is not a profitable potential
market.
There are a few "niche markets" where some
people may make some money.
The REAL MONEY is in doingGold Plating in the
automotive industry. Again, particularly with CONSUMERS. If you have a Gold Plating
Service, you can find JOBS TO DO by spreading the word that you offer the service. Passing
on the word through Auto Detailers who are not already doing the work themselves, is one
way. The same for Automotive Window Tinting businesses, other Automotive Aftermarket
Businesses. You can find a list in your local YELLOW PAGES. Be ready to pay some sort of
COMMISSION to the shop that refereed the consumer to you. A number of people tell me they
have working arraignments this way. You have to check how it is in your area.
I recall an Automotive Trade Show where the company
showing a particular Gold Plating machine had a gold plated hitch ball on display. It
looked nice. It was the only Gold Plated Hitch Ball I ever noticed. So, here was another
job that could be done but it is not a practical way to make money. All this shows is the
need to be in the Automotive Industry, in the right portion of the market.
Time spent finding the REAL MARKET is important.
That is where you will make money!
